Championship Update - 10 days to go

Parking and small camper vans may park opposite the club in the council run car park - area cordoned off for exclusive use of hornets - campers may use this as an overnight stop as long as fit into one parking bay  (£8 per day). An area for larger campers is available at the Rugby club  (fee for negotiation, call club direct to arrange, Rugby club within walking distance). If arriving at a reasonable time...probably up to 22:00hrs, ring Eric 07766702996 1/4hr before arrival to arrange Sue Penfold to open the harbour barrier to let you in.

Arrivals = Any arriving on Friday need to give me an ETA so I can let Sue know who and when so they can be put along breakwater arm. The restaurant will be open Friday night, reasonable price, good food.

Trailers can be left in a section of the harbour.

Sat evening...AGM in Corinthian room; Commodores Welcome with finger buffet included in cost of entry.....Barbeque after – place order for what you want when you enter, prices will be extra depending on what food you order .... Will, Matt and Sam will do a musical turn, and other competitors will be asked to do a spot....Strang for the comedy? Exe sails supplying some small random spot prizes for that evening.

Sunday evening, Sue Penfold will get a selection of foods from the Polish shop as snacks. Cost to be advised after the 11th when Sue back from holiday.

Mon night....dinner....agreed 3 courses  Note, there will be a choice of two meals and possibly vegetarian if required – will need to make clear on entry what choice you want to make and pay at entry £15 per head.

Tuesday, have arranged the restaurant to open, they will supply their normal menu if required and also sandwiches for journey home for those that wish it.

Torbay have installed a lovely terrace which we have use of....looks good for a cold beer in the evening sun. Picture attached – assuming weather good, the barbeque will be outside, but they can bring inside if inclement.

IMPORTANT Traffic info:-

Roads in were congested when I went to Torbay Saturday.

Suggest the following route as an option if traffic is heavy as you head in:-

As you enter the roundabout at Newton Abbott – usually where traffic starts to build up, turn left rather than going straight across and then take the first right towards Daccombe and then Barton. Down Barton Hill Road, into Barton Road. Turn left at T junction with Newton Road which turns into Union Street, straight across the roundabout into Fleet Street, turn left onto the Strand at the bottom (you’re by the harbour)... follow harbour around and look for lift up barrier to the southern arm of the harbour right hand side just before the road starts running up-hill – there are various marine shops and cafes as you drive onto the harbour on the left above which is our car-park which is a little further up the hill on the right above the harbour entrance. The yacht club is situated on the hill almost opposite the car park entrance.
