Kestrel and Hornet Open
2nd and 3rd September 2017
Notice of Race
The regatta will be governed by the racing Rules of sailing, the prescriptions of the R.Y.A., the rules of the Association, except as any of these are changed by the event Sailing Instructions.
The meeting is open to all Kestrel and Hornet dinghies on satisfactory completion of the entry form. All competitors and their families will be deemed to be temporary members of Maylandsea Bay Sailing Club for the duration of the event.
ENTRY FEE is £22 per boat. Non competing visitors £5 per person for Saturday evening food.
FACILITIES, CAMPING, FOOD and ENTERTAINMENT:
The club will be open from 18:00 on Friday 1st September.
Camping is permitted on site on Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd September only. Access to toilets and changing rooms will be available overnight.
Refreshments will be available on Saturday and Sunday at the galley.
Food will be available on the Saturday night – this is included in the entry fee (see above) Please email Paul Wilkinson if you have any special dietary requirements.
Entertainment will be organised for Saturday night – Kestrels v Hornets
Friday 1st September
Club opens 18:00
Registration 20:00 to 21:00
Saturday 2nd September
Registration from 7:30 to 8:00
Races 1 and 2 Race 1 will start no earlier than 09:00
Race 2 will follow as soon as possible after the last finisher in race 1
Sunday 3rd September
Briefing 09:00 (if required)
Races 3 and 4 Race 3 will start no earlier than 09:50
Race 4 will follow as soon as possible after the last finisher in race 3
Prize giving* 14:30 approx.
If two starts are used Hornets will be the first start for each race, Kestrels will be the second start for each race.
Please note: at the discretion of the race committee, races may be raced on Sunday instead of
Saturday or vice versa.
Will be available at registration from Friday 1st September 2017.
The regatta will be held at Maylandsea Bay Sailing Club, The Esplanade, Maylandsea, CM3 6AL
and sailed on Lawling Creek and River Blackwater, Essex
Will be displayed in the race reception and or committee boat and described at the briefings.
The low points scoring system in Appendix A will be used. Each boat’s series score shall be the total
of all her race scores, except that discards shall be applied as follows:

Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats, this restriction also applies to mobile telephones.
DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of £2,000,000 per incident or the equivalent.
