Well, we kicked off 2007 with two Hornets having a gribbly at Queen Mary. No glory this year, with 70th place going to Peter and me in 2179, and 120th to Roger Devereux in 2070, but at least we both finished.

To give you some idea of the weighting towards the slow boats, the first boat with a trapeze (if you don't count a Thames A Rater) came in 38th

It's the taking part that counts

Anyone doing the Hoo Freezer in February?

John just shows you should check the SI properly we thought you started a minute early but on returning to shore we worked out we gave you a head start. Good to see you there. It was definitely a day for two man hikers. I felt sorry for the youngsters in the toppers when it all went dead, at least we kept moving .......just.

actually we weren't too sure about the start either, but we worked on the basis that if all the Fireballs were wrong, then we might as well be wrong too! But thanks for the head start

I couldn't believe the speed of the Thames Rater when it went light - I reckon it was just carrying momentum from being launched...

One of the 5os tried to slow it down at the start. It was a very loud crunch and he was carrying  bits of blue plastic on his foredeck when he passed us. Dont forget his sail reaches the jet stream
