I read that John has sold his plastic boat to someone from Poland. The trend to Poland continues.

Perhaps we should consider holding the European Championships in Poland. It would help the Polish fleet as well as involve the Dutch.

We could hold our Nationals over a weekend so as not to dilute the fleet too much.

Any comments anyone?

We struggle to get entrants to opens and champs in Uk, it's a big journey to Poland - ask Eric, Dave Edge, etc, a non-starter I fear.

They seem to hold an event each year. For those who can make it, why not make it a European event? Are we only going to hold a national event next year, or did I misunderstand?

next year will be a Europeans, date to be announced shortly.

I am very pro encouraging the Polish development - they have regular meetings, and their Nationals had a 9 boat turnout I believe.

Yes, it's a long way, but so is Garda, and that's worth doing too! With a bit of forward planning, it can be done. Maybe if one or two Poles come to the champs next year, we can have some serious discussions?

An alternative is a champs in Holland, so we meet half way - well part of the way.

Hi guys,
Next year we intend to send couple of our boats on
Europeans (maybe 3). Now we've got 10 ready to sail (most
Brits boats). We are not only buing your boats. We
ordered two brand new selden masts and 2 sets of new
North sails. We have 6 meetings on water every year. This
year 3 times on the open see. Still two crews are
seeking good hornets to buy. This year we've met on 11
days regatta during Tall ship race in Gdynia (our
nationals plus Nordea Cup regattas sponsored by Nordea
Bank) It was wonderfull, see our photos on which you will
see huge tall ships running together with Hornet fleet.
Our fleet is growing up. Slowly but constantly. We will
be happy to organise Europeans in Poland in Gdynia or
Puck or Gdansk. Maybe half way meeting in Holland is not
a bad idea on beginning. Let's discuss it

Sounds interesting. We'll discuss in the committee - it would have to be 2011.....

Well done to the Poles for building up their fleet. At the rate they are buying up Hornets we will have to organise the Europeans in Poland if only to go and get some of our boats back.

A Eurpopean championship in Polland or Holland may be very benificial to the class in those countries.

I fear the Dutch class has now officially died.Cry

We (Harry and I) called everybody last year to try and get some people together, first to see if we are going somewhere or not and we hoped to get more boats on the water.
We didn't succeed, nobody turned up for the meeting nor for the ONE event organised despite a lot of phoning & E-mailing.

Over the winter Harry descided to put his NED-163 up for sale.
We also descided, after 25years of sailing Hornets, to switch classes and bought ourselves an FD.
Our NED-154 also got sold and will only be used recreational I guess.

This means no more active Hornets in Holland I am afraid...Cry
We wish you all the best and hope to see some of you on the water again
