Sentimental Ex-Hornet sailor, now on Laser, owned Hornet 391 from 1967 to 1971 (first boat), wonder if it is still around. Or gone to graveyard by now, does anyone know? Had great fun with sliding seat (or rather my crew did). News from any other owners of this boat welcome. Silvaflash.

Dont know about 391 but 353 is now active again with sliding seat and being sailed by 50 plus ex hornet crew from no 564 fantastic fun , as goood as it ever was . Any news of other plank boats would be welcome. Interest at both bexhill SC and at Hornet Open at sandwich has been phenomenal

I have just finished putting back together Hornet 140. Not to original spec but raced her at Classic and Vintage rally at Roadford (Devon) a couple of weeks back. Raced really well but I didnt have the spinaker rigged and I need to pick some brains about tuning. The plank drew a lot of interest from other people and I have a waiting list to try it out. Hope to do a couple of opens next year. If your boats are over 25 years old(which they will be) they will be welcome at the Classic and Vintage Racing Dinghy Ass(CVRDA) final rally at Bowmoor 7th November. Go to www.cvrda.org for more details. I would like to race other Hornets so please join us. Its not to serious and the boats dont have to be in pristine condition or totally original.Just 25 years old of a pre 65 design.
