Whilst I support the year book, I think a much higher priority would be to develop an on-line database (I know it has been raised before).

Over the last 30 years a large number of Hornets (post-Revolution) have "disappeared" and we have no formal record anywhere. Even in recent years when boats are sold on we lose track of some of them (although they could all be in a certain Mr Shelton's lockup). If we knew where these missing boats were we might be able to add to the second boat list where we are always desparate for more boats whenever the class's popularity increases.

A database would help track the boats, past and current owners, current rig, sailing records, etc. I suspect that most of this information could be re-used for the year book.

Any progress in this area?

I was just going to suggest on the other thread that it must be possible to do something electronically, and then I read your post. I don't think publishing a yearbook would be worthshile, but an on-line depository (suppository?) of information would be a very good idea, but it does depend on how many members are registered - I presume some sort of registration would be necessary to avoid entries from Viagra vendors.

Surely a good starting point must be the RYA. They must have a list of certified boats and their owners at time of certificate issue? Or are they more interested in 2012 these days?

By the way, my collection is dwindling - now we use the plastic one for the winter, while the Steinway is in the lock-up!

Tom, can we ( with help from Bazzer) not post your Hornet database excel document on this site - read only perhaps - to stimulate interest. Readers could let you ( as the document "owner") and / or Dean know about known errors or changes to the list, to get us started??

This sounds like a good idea - what else would we be doing over Christmas??

I hate to think when 1053 was last known to the RYA!

Not to mention the Larks, who also show separately the clubs which are supporting the fleet

What a brilliant idea. At the time of viewing I noticed there were 474 Larks registered and 80 Fireballs. I appreciate that it takes time to build the register up but it must be worth it.
