There seems to be a conflict between the calendar on this site and Minnis Bay - they list a joint phantom / hornet event on 21/22 Sep, not 7/8. Which is correct please?

Smile Minnis bay have moved it to the later date. 21st 22nd. Several who were planning to go now can't make it. Jim

Thanks. Does that mean it won't be viable?

That would be a shame, as 2186 has just gone to Minnis Bay IIRC and I'm sure they could do with support.
Having said that, I'll be away on holiday

It is certainly a great place to go, and the Commodore worked his socks off last year to make us welcome. organising the racing and being head chef at the barbecue. A show of hands of those going would be useful.Smile

I will be away. If Eric Styles can get a crew he would go. I will talk to him.

Sorry, we can't make it. We will be on duty at Southampton Boat Show doing the Battle of the classes on behalf of the Hornets.

It's a real shame the dates have moved, I was looking forward to going very much.

Do we know when the decision was made to change the dates? If the club has moved them quite recently then someone should explain to the club why so few, if any boats are going. If the mistake is at the class end, then we need to send an apology as we certainly don't want to risk not being able to go back.

Just as information.....Minnis Bay don't think they have changed the dates, so there was a mix-up somewhere, fortunately I was a member there so know some of the people i.c., so they are all happy.
I explained that due to the mix up in date most people that travel would be unavailable for the later date so there would be just two or three boats likely to arrive. with a view to salvaging an open there next year (3 boats to an open would have made them think seriously about running it again) Minnis Bay view was to cancel the open and just run the Man of Kent regatta which was/is due to be held on the Sunday only (originally alongside our open) and they have extended a welcome to any Hornet whether from Kent or not and they can all race for the trophy. This also prevents other classes scoffing at a minimal turn-out for an open.
