Do you want an open at pd again next year?

May 14th and 15th would be good for us,
Kestrals are keen to come and join us that weekend too, and we have Vanol cup handicap racing that weekend too.
Or you can come for the Hywel Poole memorial race in July if that fits the calender better?

Hi Jo,

great! Thanks for this. I was going to get in touch. So far that would give us for 2016:

PD: 14/15 May
Stone: 4/5 June
Exe 16/17 July
Champs Aug

So that would leave us April, Sept and Oct to fill. Any ideas or offers gratefully received!

Thorpe Bay are keen to have us again, someone would need to contact them to sort a date. But I'm guessing similar to this year is possible.

There's also an opportunity to join in with the Port of Plymouth Regatta. Enough boats would get a class start (5 or 6 I think) but I think this is only 2 weeks before Starcoss. But there may be an opportunity for further travelled teams to leave boats at Starcross on way home and combine two events?

Thanks Mike and Toby. I will contact Chris Boshier re TBYC and if you can get back to me re Carsington Mike that would be great.

Carsington have come back with their dates, May 28/29/30 for a combined open with 505s, Javelins, us and Albocores.

Obviously very close to Stone - any chance we could persuade them to delay a week or two?

Hi Mike,

I don't think so. There was quite a bit of to-and-fro to get this date. Bit of a tricky one as both good opens and supporters of the class. Run both and try and encourage attendance?

My plan was do all of the opens.
Adding carsington puts 3 opens in 4 weeks? 2 are North I'm not complaining about that!
It is do-able just for us but one is a home open, I expect most can't to all 3?

H's race doesn't clash with exe this time so we can come down.

Champs are early too, busy few weeks. I hope Keith can understand.

There's an option to join the Final Fling in Plymouth in October (I think)

Last year we cut the Carsington open to two days as the feeling was we did not need three. Same plan again this year?

Also I don't think the 5o5's are going.

Hi All,

really sorry but I am being a bit useless on sorting the opens for 2016 (too much going on). We do have 4 although some are close together. I think Toby's offer of a Plymouth open in Oct is good. That leaves April and September to fill. I will contact TBYC about joining again as I think that was a success last year. Need to think about April. Any ideas or offers?

Cheers

Clint

I think we should forget about one in April as we have 3 close together in May and June,
And go with Plymouth in October, thats got to be enough?
Would make 5 opens and a champs.

Boshier not on the committee anymore. Suggest contacting Rear Comm Racing. Details are on the tbyc site.

Happy New Year all.

Agreed, not too bothered about April to be honest.

I'm pretty sure most of us will have an Easter event somewhere to fill the early part of the year.

You could also see if Gary and Tracy Haylett can help with Thorpe Bay, they were very active in organising last year.

We could go to TBYC instead of Plymouth in October if it suites them, as TBYC is a hornet club?

Maylandsea can offer 3/4 September sharing with the Kestrels.

Thanks Dean. Toby, have you had any luck with Gary at TBYC?

Hi All,

I am trying to get the opens sorted in time for the D Show. So far we have:

PD: 14/15 May
C'ton: 28/29 May
Stone: 4/5 June
Exe 16/17 July
Champs: Aug
M'sea 3/4 Sept
Oct TBA

Can people let me know if they want an open in Oct. At the moment we only really have one option to join the Final Fling at Plymouth. It would be massed starts but we could extract our results and I think from the Y&Y reports it is a really good event.

Let me know your thoughts

Clint

Have we got any clarification on whether the Carsington Open is 2 or 3 days yet?

Hi all.
Who is coming to the PD open?
This is about accommodation
We have a bunk house open in the village, staggering distance from the club and pub.
Canolfan Dinas has space for 10 in beads and camping for 10 tents in the grounds,
http://www.canolfandinas.co.uk/
We are expecting kestral sailors too! I have heard that the Scottish are keen travelers. I think there will be at least 5 boats From the kestrals.

If you want something a bit more up market the Garddfon puh does beds but no breakfast,
http://www.garddfon.co.uk/index.html

breakfast options at the club or there is a very good cafe in the village too.
Swellies cafe
https://m.facebook.com/swellies

We might be able to find beds in spare rooms of sailors who live in the village too.
Let me know your preferd options,

Looking forward to seeing you all
Jo x

Do you mean camping in the sailing club grounds? If so will the club facilities be open?

Myself and Rich, Dawn and Simon are planning to be there.

No, there isn't realy anywhere good for camping in the clubs grounds, camping is in the bunk house grounds, so bunk house should have toilets. I have asked for a price for camping. It is very close to the club.
Club can be open whenever its needed.

Hi Jo, have you had any luck getting camping prices?

Posted By: floozie 2115
Date Posted: 18 April 2016 at 15:14
Camping is £7.50 per person per night.
outside toilet will be open all night,
Showers at the club,
Cars need to go to the club car park after unpacking camping kit.
As long as I know in advance who is wanting to camp, you can pay at registration on the Saturday and I will pass money on to Paul.
Bunkhouse has been booked by someone wanting some peace and quiet, so you shouldn't be disturbed whilst sleeping :-)
Any one realy not wanting to camp let me know and I'll try to find you a room somewhere.
The kestral lot are either bringing campervans and staying in the club car park or staying in the Garddfon pub, just as close. When I asked if they wanted to camp, they declined. :-)
