Brixham is a great venue and club! It should be a fantastic championship. It's been a while since I've raced from there so I'm really looking forward to going back.

I am hoping to bring 191 along. How much we sail will depend on the weather, the old lady is becoming rather frail now.

Last Friday I travelled down to Brixham for a meeting with the club including the race officer and catering manager. They are very keen to have us and to deliver an enjoyable championship. In liaison with your committee I will be finalising details of the programme including, possibly, an anniversary dinner, shortly. To enable me to do so can I appeal for an indication through this forum of:

who will be coming,

who would be interested in the now traditional ‘meal deal’,

who would be interested in a slightly more formal (although not, hopefully, stiff) dinner, most likely on Monday, 20 August. On this last point the club has excellent facilities and can clearly cater to a decent standard in appropriate surroundings.

Just to make things clear for the first three days we will be sharing the club and dinghy park with the single-handed Byte class who are quite small in number and may, subject to confirmation, race on a separate course. They will be having their prize-giving on Monday, will have the place to ourselves for our own prize-giving on Tuesday.

hi,
2163 is now in the hands of at least one name that the class may recognise, Chris Bines and Dave Gibbons. Having had some years away we are looking forward to returning to the class, will definatly be at Brixham and looking forward to a great event and class dinner.

Watch out for "Dazed , Confused and Old" from Brightlingsea.

That's great news chaps - look forward to seeing you at the champs (and Hoo?).

Not sure about the name though - should that be "Dazed, Confused, Extinguished, Banned and Old" or is the signwriting too expensive ? Wink

Oink Flirt will be there plus 2 extras for the meal deal and anything else planned, if I can delay the op until after the week!
Mike, bring SWMBO and introduce her to our partners who will be visiting all the local attractions while Alastair and I are suffering in the bay, and I'm sure would be only too pleased to have another for the hourly tea stops.

A special note back to Steve - I know I'm a bit slow on the uptake, but it has taken until now to interpret the hidden message - to which the response is "I'll do my best to oblige!".

I hope you have finished your chores from the other night . . . . .

I only asked because I once turned up to a dinner in smart casual without tie to find everyone else in DJs. I dont really want to evict the moths (non foiling) unless I have to.

As a matter of interest, does anyone have an idea of how many entries there are for the Nationals.

Will there be a preview posted to Yachts and Yachting.

Is there any information regarding the potential meal deals and formal dinner?
Meal deal - I need to balance up whether it is cost-effective/suitable for my family to eat at the club or self cater.

Formal dinner - if there is no provision for kids it may not be a family friendly event. Bear in mind that past 40th/ 50th formal dinners have not taken place during the championship and have been standalone events.

BTW, 2171 & 2058 have accommodation booked for the championships. Entry forms will be submitted by early entry deadline of 14th July

Best regards
Tom

On the subject of entry. Can the ££ be wired or is it strictly cheque with entry form.

Posted By: kevin
Date Posted: 03 July 2012 at 19:27
It is easier by cheque, if this is a problem contact me directly.

All good. Just an idea as email / pdf entry along with wired ££ might see a prompter / more timely response.
I'll line up a cheque (once cheque book has been located).

Additionally other classes are using sailracer for online entry.

Is it possible to have the NOR on the front page of the forum updated to show the race times and social programme so I can plan the Saturday camp-making and registration and later evenings with wife, or is there any other source for info that I've missed?
