11    Scoring

A minimum of 4 races must be sailed to constitute a championship. The low points scoring system in Appendix A will be used. Each boat’s series score shall be the total of all her race scores, except that discards shall be applied as follows:

Races

Discards

4 or 5 races completed

1 discard

12     Prizes

Trophies will be allocated by the National Hornet Class Association

13    Safety Regulations

All competitors shall wear a buoyancy aid or life jacket to an appropriate standard at all times when afloat. Wet suits and dry suits are not an appropriate standard.

14    Disclaimer of Liability

Competitors are entirely responsible for their own safety, whether afloat or ashore, and nothing reduces this responsibility.  It is for competitors to decide whether their boat is fit to sail in the conditions in which it will find itself.  By launching or going to sea

competitors confirm the boat is fit for those conditions and that they are competent to sail and compete in them.  Nothing done by the organizers can reduce the responsibility of the owners and/or competitors, nor will it make the organizers responsible for any loss, damage, death or personal injury, however it may have occurred, as a result of the boat taking part in the racing. The organizers encompass everyone helping to run

the event.  The provision of patrol boats does not relieve owners and competitors of their responsibilities.

15    Insurance

Boats are required to be adequately insured including insurance against third party claims of at least £2,000,000

16    Notes

Please ensure all trolleys are left above the high water line on the beach. This is a private beach but as access is available to the public, care should be given not to leave trolleys where they could injure any third party.

Boat Park; Race Hut & Office; Tally Board

Boat parking is available on the sea wall

Road trailers will be parked in the main boat park by the main club house, available there also. It is imperative that people do not park along the frontage of the large adjacent house - Sandilands

There is a water supply at the top of the slipway for washing off boats, but NOTE that there is a hose pipe ban and buckets should be used.

Planning to come. Latest weather charts show winds moderating from the previous 'dogs off chains' forecast.

Had an e-mail overnight from S'Bay a bit concerned about weather forecast although as Strang has pointed out things do look better. If you intending to come could to post / re-post please to give them an idea. Please don't just ignore this as they are saying that if it is windy it will be difficult to get the committee boat rouind from Dover for just a few boats.

Clint, I can't get hold of Geoff just now (3pm Thurs), but my feeling is that we will come up Saturday sometime with a view to sailing in the lighter winds on Sunday. Final decision on Friday midday ish but will keep a look out on the forum for news. We are not into sailing in the survival stuff.

Planning to come for the two days but like Jim will probably not bother with sailing on Saturday and will look at Sunday on its merits. Luckily don't have to travel too far! Might get the Blokart out instead on Saturday!

Have just spoken to Jim Jeffrey of S'bay. As far as they are concerned the event IS ON. We did agree that it might be difficult for him to bring the committee boat round from Dover on Saturday so might have to be a line start (if we even get one!). I think that is fair.

Cheers
