After further negotiations as instructed by the AGM following discussion that the preference was for open water sea sailing, we were unable to secure an alternative at sea clubs suggested.
Stone S.C. therefore kindly stepped back into the breach again for the 2019 Championships after I made a phone call tonight following emails received earlier today.
2019 will see Fran Wood as Commodore of the Club and hopefully she will be sailing their Hornet with Dave at the Championships. Caroline Crispin (nee Barnett) ex Hornet World Champion crew with Rob Larke is the Championship organiser for Stone Sailing Club.
Hopefully we will see Rob Larke and Nic Barnes previous Championship winners and holders of the highest placing any representative of the Hornet Class has ever achieved in the Endeavour Trophy back in Sting for the 2019 Championship.
I have already asked that if weather permits that the courses will be set further down the estuary off Bradwell Power Station going seaward and the Championship committee is working to ensure that we have suitable length racing with buoys being moved as necessary.
Camping will be as normal by the clubhouse.
Here’s hoping we have steadier winds than at this years championship to make the race committee’s job easier and more pleasant than those suffered by the committee at Thorpe Bay due to the vagaries of wind and tide.
