1. Apologies for absence
SW welcomed all to the meeting. Apologies are noted on the front page.
2. To agree the Minutes of the 2021 AGM held on 18/01/2022
There were no objections.TC proposed and JP seconded the minutes. The minutes were agreed.
3. Chairman’s Report
SW stated there was a successful championship last year and a few open meetings although attendance was low due to COVID-19 or lack of promotion. Aim is to get more boats on the water and in theory getting new blood into the fleet. There are 4 or 5 boats available for loan, JJ has 2 available later in the year. TG and MN’s boats available for open meetings and  championships with new people potentially lined up for use. There are 3 open meetings lined up currently with River Exe Regatta 8th-9th July 2023. Inland championships at Chase Water 6th-7th May 2023 to support the Midlands’ growing fleet and then Rutland 14th-15th October 2023. SW wanted to encourage people to come to the existing meetings rather than putting more on. SW stated there was a new committee coming in this year to get caught up and up to speed. Asked for patience from the membership but will get things going as soon as possible for this year. MA added positivity around Weymouth. Great event and some new people which resulted in a boat being sold to new members. Weymouth was a successful event and also managed to sell a boat to a sailing couple to come into the hornet fleet. SW agreed and will encourage them to get out as much as possible.
4. Election of Officers
Commodore: RB PR proposed and JJ seconded. Chairman: SW PR proposed and JJ seconded. Vice Chairman: TC PR proposed and JJ seconded. Treasurer: MA PR proposed and JJ seconded. Secretary: JW PR proposed JJ seconded.
5.Nominations for Committee
JW, JP and TG TC proposed and EM seconded.
6. Treasurer’s Reports, adoption of the accounts and appointment of auditors
MA shared the accounts.Depreciation of the mould will slightly change due to discussion at committee. Agreed this would take a year on year depreciation until such time the value is written off. 2021 accounts, the moulds have been drawn into accounts but has drawn in 40% instead of 10%. Miscellaneous costs were discussed as there were a number of refunds.Note on miscellaneous accounts for £400 and £160 which need to be confirmed. Once confirmed, these will be put into true headings rather than sit as sundry items. The accounts will then be signed off. No questions were asked by the members. MA explained that the depreciation of the moulds will be 10% instead of 40%.RB asked where the income side of the championships were displayed. MA explained the costs that people had paid in 2020 were refunded. Those that did not come were refunded their championship costs. MA will take it away as an action and will confirm. EM stated that MM donated approx. £1,000 before COVID-19 which presumably went into the accounts. JP explained the income came in over 2 years ago and the expenditure went out over the preceding years. SW and MA to investigate and will clarify in the accounts. Action: MA to publish accounts to committee, once the committee is satisfied then publish to the members. JP proposed and JJ seconded.                                        MA
7. Report on New Boats and the Moulds
SW stated he is in limbo with moulds citation and new board. JJ has been working on an epoxy prototype and is hoping to have it on the water in March. He discovered problems taking the crew deck out and has added strut supports. A report will be put together and sorted out by the next AGM.SW gave thanks to JJ for getting things moving again.
8. The future of the 200 club
SW gave thanks to RB for organising the transfer and stated there was nobody to run it at present and hopefully it can be brought back in the future. It has been a great asset and has put funds in the account and been a bit of fun for everyone. It has been another great contribution to the class. The remaining funds will be used to present a trophy in memory of Hilary. SW asked for suggestions from members so that this can be presented at the championships.TG gave thanks all for their contributions and ran a draw during the meeting. Raised approx. £740 for the class over the 4 years. Winners were drawn during the meeting as follows:   2020  £60 – Ticket 12 – Mark Smith2021  £139 – Ticket 131 – Tom Guy. TG had decided to donate his winnings towards the nationals.2022  £120 – Ticket 282 – Alex and Pippa2023 £27 – Ticket 345 – Mary-Rose Daniels
9. Rule change: Amendments to rule C.9.7
No members abstained the vote. No members objected to the rule change. Members agreed the rule change.
10. Amendments to constitution
No members abstained the vote. No members objected to the rule change. Members agreed the rule change.
11.Future Championships
TC has been doing work to gain visibility. In relation to the dates published for Mumbles on 12th-15th Aug, due to confusion around the tides this has been changed to 10th-13th Aug. Agreed with the club they are going to include competitors meals on each of the 3 nights, Thurs, Fri and Sat. It will probably be a saturday night for the championship 3 course dinner and there will be a band. There will be a £185 entry fee and £200 late entry fee. TC to sort entry forms and get this published as soon as possible to drum up interest. Urged everyone to get entries in early. Event will be joined with the Kestrel fleet, which is more palatable to the host club to join with other classes and takes pressure off the club in relation to numbers. Noted that they are good partners for the association. The club is on the main road coming out of Swansea, on a sheltered slipway onto Swansea bay. 10-15m sail from the slipway and a really simple good race area. Plan has been to go where the fleets are. 2024 in discussion with Dabchicks West Mersey Club, racing in the Blackpool Estuary (between Stone and Brightlingsea) They are keen to host. Probably do a joint event again in the future. Provisional dates 13th-16th July 20242025 – will be in Weymouth following the success of last year.
12. Any Other Business
SW is trying hard with the committee to push with the hornet fleet this year. Reaching a point where new members are needed, great last year with 2 members joining but there are boats available for hire, loan or sail. Some people lined up but he hopes there will be increased attendance this year. Boats on the water will help visibility. Next AGM will be held at the championships and looking at a remote option for those who cannot attend. EM was happy to strip the decks and revarnish his old hornet but it needs to go somewhere and be used. It needs some work on the rigging, after it came back from Colewin Bay, they put new fittings on and took them back off again. Not particularly good but needs sorting out, otherwise we won’t attract people into the fleet if it doesn’t look quite right. SW asked EM if he could varnish the hull and get the boat down to the South Coast, SW offered to fit the boat and find some sails so there is a more up together boat, EM reminds that the boat needs to be insured. SW and JP assured this would be ok. Action EM/CS to strip and re-varnish and to liaise with SW to arrange collection. JJ offered short-term space in the Midlands. MA asked about getting boats to the championships. JJ advised the modified polyester boat will be there. The build quality isn’t up to the new boat standard. Committee will keep working with JJ over the next year to get a satisfactory product out there. Hornet needs to get out to a wider audience. Limited events for hornets but JJ will be doing more regattas this season.TG asked JJ for pictures. Action: JJ to send pictures to SW to share with members. TG thanked SW for stepping up. JJ chase 2 day event, could do with letting the club know within the next 2 weeks. SW to put something out there. SW working on a fixture list, get this out within the next week and the information on the championships too.                                EM/CS                 JJ
